Carroll
Thatcher was responsible for transforming the firm from an interior
design firm to one specializing in facility strategic planning.
Major projects include requirement studies for the tax centres
across Canada, the National Library, AECL in Chalk
River, and conceptual design and co-ordination for the implementation
of the Head Office, training rooms and a $25 million data centre
of a major international consulting firm.
Carroll
was the off-campus coordinator for the four-course Master's Level
Facility Management Certificate Program offered by Michigan
State University. Carroll was also the developer and first
instructor of the foundation course of this program: Facility
Management: Theory and Principles, a distance learning course
delivered completely via the Internet.
The
International Facility Management Association awarded Carroll
the Distinguished Author Award for Instructional Materials in
1999 for this course. As well, Carroll developed and taught a
two-week course, An Introduction to Working in Virtual Teams,
also delivered over the Internet.
As
a member of the IFMA Standards Committee, Carroll worked on the
development and refinement of advanced methodologies for determining
functional requirements and allocating space. She is a co-author
of the Serviceability Tools & Methods books and has been a
regular contributor to facilities management publications.
Carroll
is a qualified IFMA instructor and teaches IFMA courses internationally.
