and experience and must pass the National Council for Interior
Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam and be a registered member of
ARIDO to be an Interior Designer.
The
"ARIDO" designation after an Interior Designer's name
is recognized as a symbol of professionalism, and reflects the
high degree of education, training, practical work experience
and formal examination that is required to become a professional
Interior Designer.

Building
Code Examinations (Bill 124)
As of January 1, 2006, the Ontario Government requires that
building officials and other building practitioners submitting
designs to municipalities in connection with a building permit
be registered and obtain a Ministry issued registration number
(Building Code Identification Number or BCIN). To obtain this
number, firms and individuals must pass Ministry Building Code
knowledge exams.
Carroll
Thatcher Planning Group has achieved compliance with the requirements
of Bill 124. Meredith Thatcher and Tanya Irvine have each passed
the General Legal/Process, Large Buildings, and Small Buildings
exams and are now registered as designers under the Ontario Building
Code. Cindy Gramann and Lyndsay Gardiner have passed the Designer
Legal Building Code exam.
The
Building Code Act, as amended by Bill 124, will update and improve
Ontario's building regulatory system, increase the safety and
quality of building construction, streamline the regulatory system,
enhance accountability, and create a more transparent and innovation-friendly
regulatory environment for the construction industry.
More
information about Bill 124 can be found on the website of the
Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing: http://www.obc.mah.gov.on.ca.
